This just in from John Gillum.

North Village Branch Library Replacement Project: The Grand Opening of the North Village Branch Library has been rescheduled to Saturday, May 30, 2009, as the general contractor has yet to reach substantial completion of the project. At this time, the contractor is engaged in replacing the pervious concrete on the site, as it failed inspection, and is working toward completion of the owner’s punch list of items remaining to be installed, replaced or repaired according to the terms of the construction contract. The contractor is also working to redress a list of items identified by the building inspector as needing correction before a Certificate of Occupancy can be issued. The Library Department is closely monitoring the contractor’s progress toward to completion and stands ready to begin moving furniture, equipment and collections into the facility as soon as it is legally able to do so.

Upcoming Candidate Forum Input

Posted Mar 2, 2009 1:32pm by Chris Jones in Events | Comments Off

We need your input for a City Council and Mayoral Candidate Forum.

Our neighborhood is partnering with Allandale, Crestview, Brentwood, Highland, and Wooten to sponsor a City Council Candidate Forum on Monday, April 13th. Our six neighborhoods are joining together to address the pressing issues that will impact all of north central Austin as our city undergoes rapid growth and development.

We need your help to formulate good questions to ask the candidates. We’ve divided our neighborhood concerns into the following possible topic areas.

  • Code enforcement
  • Open space
  • Neighborhood plan follow-through (or in our case, the lack of a neighborhood plan)
  • Land use and zoning
  • Creek-side trails, greenbelts
  • Traffic and transportation
  • Responsiveness(/li>
  • Miscellaneous

Please visit our online survey to submit your suggestions or concerns so that we can ask the candidates questions that are most relevant to you. Please submit your questions by March 10th.
