Pillow’s principal, Dinorah De La Torre-Salazar, attended NSCNA’s March 1 membership meeting and spoke about traffic congestion in the afternoons when school is dismissed and parents arrive to pick up children (from about 2:30-3:50 pm, with the worst between 2:55 and 3:50).
Children are now back in class and that, in combination with the safety features recently put in on Crosscreek by the City of Austin’s Safe Routes to School Program, means that there is less street parking for parents. Principal De La Torre-Salazar asks that, should someone block your driveway while picking up their child, please call Pillow’s Office at 512-414-2350 and let them know. Or, email either Principal De La Torre-Salazar (dinorah.delatorre-salazar@austinisd.org) or her assistant, Dolores Young (dolores.young@austinisd.org).

REMINDER: NEW DEMOLITION NOTIFICATION PROCESS IN EFFECTNew Permitting, Notification and Inspection Procedures Required for DemolitionThe City of Austin Development Services Department (DSD) wants to ensure area contractors and demolition customers have the information and resources needed to comply with new project requirements, which went into effect October 1, 2021.Please familiarize yourself with the new permitting procedures and notification requirements before proceeding with your demolition project(s).NEW REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

- Demolition Notification Packet (Provided upon successful Pre-Construction Inspection)
- Demolition Notification Acknowledgment (Included in the Demolition Notification Packet)
NEW STEPS BEFORE DEMOLITION CAN BEGIN1.a Schedule the 100 Pre-Construction Inspection- Before a demolition can begin, a 100 Pre-Construction Inspection (100 Pre-Con) is required for all demolition projects. This inspection, which verifies that site preparation and utilities have been addressed safely, is the last required inspection before demolition begins.
- Confirm your Plumbing Permit is paid and active. When you schedule your 100 Pre-Con inspection, DSD will also schedule the required plumbing inspection for the same visit.
2.aNotification RequirementsThe new demolition process includes notification requirements for adjacent residential structures. The Building Inspector will provide instructions and the necessary notification materials in a packet after a successful 100 Pre-Con Inspection.- Yard Signs: Inspectors will provide a yard sign with the address and building permit number for the demolition planned for that location, and contractors must fill in the remaining fields. Be sure to complete all fields of the yard sign provided. Place signs in a visible location on the site before the inspector leaves the property.
- Demolition Notification Acknowledgment: You must upload the signed Demolition Notification Acknowledgment, which is included in the notification packet, at least five days before demolition begins.
- Door Hangers: The notification packet also includes door hangers to notify adjacent properties of the planned demolition. These must be placed five to 10 business days
before the scheduled demolition. Contractors will also receive appropriate notification materials for owners of adjacent multi-family properties.
AFTER DEMOLITION AND BEFORE NEW DEVELOPMENT CAN BEGINAfter pre-demolition permitting, inspection and notification requirements have been fulfilled, approved demolitions may proceed. When the demolition is complete, it is important to close out your permit with the required post-demolition inspections before new construction or renovation can begin on the site. For more detailed information about all demolition requirements, please visit the Demolition and Relocation webpage.
