a New Shoal Creek Floodplain Map is now available online.
Shoal Creek is one of several Austin creeks recently remapped by Austin’s Watershed Protection Department. The revised floodplain map for Shoal Creek has been submitted to FEMA and is expected to be approved in July 2015. If approved as expected, it will then be adopted by the City of Austin effective January 2016.
To see the preliminary revised map, go to www.atxfloods.com/FP_mods/Map.html
Just type in your address to see if your home is in the floodplain. You can also scroll up and down the map to follow the floodplain from Shoal Creek’s headwaters just north of 183 down to its juncture with the Colorado River.

The North Shoal Creek Neighborhood Association now has an official Facebook page, thanks to Board Member Vannezsa Smith and with help from ex-President Chip Rosenthal. Please take a look. We hope you’ll find something to Like on it.
While the Media Committee will be posting information about NSCNA events and news on it, it’s intended to be predominately a resident created page. If you have photos of the Memorial Day rains in our neighborhood, please share them. Got photos of some of your favorite spots in the neighborhood? Please share them too. The more you share, the more the flavor of our neighborhood shines through.
You can use this link to access it: www.facebook.com/nscna
We need a cover photo more emblematic of North Shoal Creek. Got one you think would fit the bill? If so, please email a copy to media@nscna.org
