  • The Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission will host four sessions in September to get public input about what it should consider when drawing boundaries for 10 geographic single-member Austin City Council districts.

    The public forum sessions will each focus on City of Austin portions of Travis County Commissioner precincts. More sessions are planned for November.

    September sessions will be:

    Sept. 4 – 6:30 p.m.
    Anderson High School
    Cafeteria
    8403 Mesa Drive
    Focus on Travis County Commissioner Precinct 2

    Sept. 7 – 10 a.m.
    Goodwill Community Center
    1015 Norwood Park Blvd.

    The Commission also has planned two regular meetings Sept. 14 and 21. Each is set for 10 a.m., tentatively at Austin City Hall. Besides agenda items, there is a portion of the meetings set aside for Citizen Communication.

    Austin voters will elect 10 Council Members from geographic districts as well as the Mayor from the city at-large beginning with the November 2014 election. The 14-member Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission is expected to determine the districts by December 2013.

  • The next General Membership Meeting of the North Shoal Creek Neighborhood Association will be held:

    When: Tuesday, September 3, 2013, 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
    Where: Pillow Elementary School Cafeteria, 3025 Crosscreek Drive.

    A Nominating Committee will be elected at the meeting. The committee will select nominees for directors and officers who will be elected at the January 7, 2014 meeting.


  • North Shoal Creek Neighborhood Association (NSCNA) will host the 13th annual Neighborhood July 4th Independence Day Parade and Celebration this Thursday at Pillow Elementary School and Pillow Park from 9 am to 11 am.
    The parade will form beginning at 9 am in the circle drive in front of the school and parade  around the block starting at 9:20 am. Participants are encouraged to dress up in their most festive patriotic outfits and also decorate their bikes, trikes, and pets.
    After the parade the celebration will continue at Pillow Park and school grounds near Rockwood Lane.
    In addition to the parade and costume competition, there will be a raffle drawing, bag toss (prizes for the winners), face painting, balloon twisting, temporary tattoo station, sidewalk chalk drawing station, and the opportunity to visit with local representatives from the sheriff’s department, Austin Fire Department, and Austin Police Department.
    We will have water, juice, fresh fruit, pizza, and ice cream cups for all participants. The parade will start in front of Pillow Elementary in the circle drive. Come out and join in the fun!


  • The next General Membership Meeting of the North Shoal Creek Neighborhood Association will be held:

    When: Tuesday, May 7, 2013, 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
    Where: Pillow Elementary School Cafeteria, 3025 Crosscreek Drive.

    A representative of the City of Austin Transportation Department is scheduled to discuss the Speeding Mitigation (traffic calming) plans for Rockwood Lane.
    Regular chairs have been requested for the meeting, instead of the cafeteria tables with low seats.

    The annual Neighborhood Garage Sale hosted by the North Shoal Creek Neighborhood Association is scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2013, from 8am to 1 pm. Participation is FREE; there is no fee to register your garage sale.

    Plan your garage sale for that date, then register your sale by email to garagesale@nscna.org or call 512-439-9609 with your name and address of the sale.

    North Shoal Creek Neighborhood Association will:
    • Advertise the Neighborhood Garage Sale.
    • Post NSCNA signs announcing the garage sale in the neighborhood.
    • Prepare neighborhood maps showing locations of garage sales.
    • Distribute copies of the map to registered locations by early that morning to be given to shoppers.
    Please sign up by Thursday, April 25 to be included in the map.

    Also, after the garage sale, please join the NSCNA leadership and fellow members for the first ever membership drive and BBQ at 2804 Benbrook Drive. We will be serving up a Cinco de Mayo themed menu with fajitas, chips, queso, and salsa! Free for current NSCNA members; $10 per person for non-members:
