  • This is a reminder that the NSCNA neighborhood-wide Garage Sale will be held Saturday May 17th from 7AM to 2PM. Mark your calendars!

The Social committee will be putting up signs around the neighborhood and handing out flyers that contain a map showing each garage sale location.

If you want your address shown on the map flyer, please contact Aleda Johnson at 453-0672 or email her at aledathweatt@yahoo.com no later than May 10th.

If the weather is bad on this day, our alternate date is the following Saturday, May 24th.

For neighbors who are not having their own garage sale this year, this event is a great opportunity to get out in the neighborhood, meet your neighbors and find some cheap treasures.

  • The APD Chief’s Forum members are sponsoring a City Council Candidate Forum to show Councilmembers and Candidates that crime is a major issue in our neighborhoods. Details follow:

WHAT: Crime and Safety Issues City Council Candidates’ Forum
WHERE: City Council Chambers, 301 W. 2nd St., free underground parking!
WHEN: Thursday, May 1, 2008 from 6:30 pm to 8 pm

The volunteer members of the Austin Police Chief’s Forum, a group that represents neighborhoods in all of the APD Patrol Sectors city-wide, request your participation. This will be an historic event because we believe there has never been a citizen-led, neighborhood-based Council Candidate Forum strictly focused on Crime and Safety Issues, usually only the law enforcement associations and their unions hold such events. • We had a good turn out for the April General Meeting on Tuesday night with over 50 members present. Members were given an 18 page document containing the meeting’s agenda, past meeting minutes for approval, budget information, traffic committee resolutions for approval and summaries of each committee. You can view that document here. Kevin Belter was our guest speaker and spoke about trees and their effects on house foundations. He gave advice on many topics including how far away from house foundations one should plant new trees, etc. (more…)
