A board meeting was held on January 21 and continued on January 27. The time at the January 21 meeting was devoted to a report by the Development Committee on the Village redevelopment. Representatives briefed the board on the project concept. The developer is seeking an early opt-in determination for the VMU overlay on the property. This determination involves a decision by the Planning Commission, followed by a final decision by City Council.
The Development Committee is following the project to insure it is compatible with our residential area. The Development Committee was tasked with collecting input from residents and communicating these criteria to the developer in an attempt to impose neighbor-friendly restrictions on the redevelopment. The board meeting was adjourned until Jan. 27.
On January 27, the meeting continued, and the Development Committee reported that the Planning Commission meeting originally scheduled for January 29 was postponed. The board decided that a special meeting of NSCNA would be called on February 4 to discuss this redevelopment and consider whether to support the developer’s request for the VMU overlay. The board decided to delegate “negotiation” of neighborhood-friendly features to the Development Committee.
It was recently learned that our organization had promised financial support to the Pillow Elementary School sign. The board decided to track down the details and follow through on this past commitment. Furthermore, the board decided to authorize an outright donation to Pillow Elementary.
In more technical business, the board decided to rescind two motions from the Oct. 16 board meeting: the board motion to give the $2,000 and a motion about adding people to the checking account. The board decided to reserve the third Monday of each month for a board meeting preferably at the North Village Library; and to hold general meetings the first Tuesday of March, May, and October.
The next board meeting is scheduled for 6:30pm on February 18 at 8204 Sandalwood Cove.
