WEST NILE VIRUS IN NEIGHBORHOOD

A resident of our neighborhood has been reported as diagnosed with the West Nile Virus.
The Texas Department of State Health Services website
states that ‘our best defense is to practice these habits, known as the “Four Ds”:

1.Use insect repellent containing DEET, picaridin or oil of lemon eucalyptus.
2.Dress in long sleeves and long pants when you are outside.
3.Stay indoors at dusk and dawn, when mosquitoes are most active.

Neighborhood Resident Helps Bring Down Burglary Ring

A big neighborhood “thank you” to local neighbor Catherine, who provided police with information critical to bringing down a burglary ring.

KVUE reports:

“I saw a strange vehicle, and I knew it didn’t belong in the neighborhood,” said Catherine.
It was a pickup truck oddly parked on the street.
“My intuition just told me something is out of order here,” she said.

DPS Warning on Door-to-Door Alarm Sales

The Texas Department of Public Safety has issued a warning about aggressive door-to-door alarm sales.

The Texas Department of Public Safety is urging Texas residents to make sure that any alarm salesperson, company or alarm installer that they hire is licensed by the DPS Regulatory Services
Division.

Historically, some alarm salespersons have aggressively marketed their services to residents in municipalities—primarily going door to door in neighborhoods. DPS is working with the alarm industry trade associations to provide information to citizens
